Flat Roofing Across Dorset, Hampshire & Somerset

Flat roofs get a bad name, mostly earned by decades of thin pour-and-roll felt. Modern systems are a different proposition altogether: single-piece EPDM rubber membranes, seamless GRP fibreglass and multi-layer torch-on felt all last a long time when they're detailed and laid properly.

We install and replace flat roofs on extensions, garages, dormers, porches and outbuildings across Dorset, Hampshire and Somerset.

Flat roof systems we install

  • EPDM rubber — a single sheet with no seams across the main field of the roof
  • GRP fibreglass — a seamless laid-in-place laminate with hard-wearing trims
  • Torch-on felt — multi-layer systems suited to larger or complex roofs
  • Warm-roof build-ups with insulation above the deck
  • New timber decking, firrings and falls where the existing deck has failed

Why flat roofs fail

Flat-roof problems can involve drainage, falls, ageing coverings, joints, upstands, movement, damage or workmanship. We check the deck, falls and details before recommending a repair, overlay or replacement.

When we replace a flat roof we check the deck and the falls first. There's no point laying a new membrane over a deck that's soft, uneven or draining the wrong way.

Repairs and overlays

Not every flat roof needs replacing. Localised splits, blisters and failed upstands can often be repaired, and some sound roofs are fine for an overlay. We'll take a look and tell you honestly which of the three routes — repair, overlay or replacement — is right for yours.

Before we quote, we look at the deck, the falls and the details at the edges — that is usually where a flat roof gives up first.
