Perimeter detailing for an exposed site
We fix edge trims mechanically rather than relying on adhesive, form upstands up to full height and terminate them properly, and add extra fixings in the edge and corner zones where uplift is at its worst.
It's unglamorous detail that never gets photographed, but it's the difference between a flat roof that shrugs off a Channel gale and one that peels back in a single night.
Choosing a system
EPDM rubber
Seamless across the field, flexible in cold weather and quick to fit — a good option for garages, extensions and simple dormer tops.
GRP fibreglass
Hard-wearing and walkable, which is why it's usually our go-to for balconies and roof terraces overlooking the bay. It does need a dry spell to cure properly, so we plan the scheduling carefully here.
Torch-on felt
Multi-layer modern felt is still a solid, economical choice on larger roofs and on commercial and guest house premises.
Falls, outlets and salt corrosion
We always check the fall before quoting and can correct it with firrings or tapered insulation where the deck allows. Near the sea, we spec outlets and metal trim in materials that won't corrode away years before the membrane itself gives up.
